Digital Nomad Visa requirements
The file Cancillería expects to see — we build and verify it with you, document by document.
- Authorized nationality: your country must be on the official list (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Latin America and 100+ more). We verify it on the consultation.
- 6 months of bank statements with recurring income over 3 minimum wages ($5,240,646 COP).
- Employment letter (Spanish or English) with contract, role, salary, seniority — ideally stating the work is remote from Colombia.
- Current contract or, if you're an owner, company-ownership proof (certificate equivalent to existence & representation).
- International health insurance for 1–2 years: emergencies, accidents, hospitalization and repatriation.

Do I qualify as an employee or an owner?
Both qualify. Employee: letter + contract proving remote work. Owner: company existence certificate (e.g., Certificate of Good Standing in the US) plus income proof. The consultation defines your best profile.
How much must I earn?
Over 3 Colombian monthly minimum wages, shown in 6 months of statements: $5,240,646 COP (about $1,610 USD at Oct 2026 rates).
Can I bill Colombian clients?
No. No work for Colombian companies and no local pay. Only foreign income (passive income from Colombian investments is allowed).
Does it work for staying long-term?
This visa doesn't accrue toward residency. If your goal is staying years, the consultation tells you which visa leads to the R — before you invest in the wrong one.
How long and from where do I apply?
Usually 2 to 5 weeks once filed. From Colombia or your country of residence or nationality. Granted duration (6 months to 2 years) is discretionary.
Do I need a lawyer if it's all online?
No platform requires counsel. But statements, the remote letter and insurance have details that inadmit files — as happened to several of our clients before they arrived (see reviews). For your move, it's worth shielding them.
