The Former-Colombians Resident visa in numbers
Direct R-type visa: your story is the requirement. Apply from Colombia or your country.
No new renunciations, no economic requirements: unlike nearly every other visa, this one asks for no investments, jobs or family in Colombia — only proof of your past renunciation and means to live here.
Former-Colombians requirements
A short but historic file — we build and verify it with you, document by document.
- Renunciation document of Colombian nationality.
- If lost under the 1886 Constitution (art. 9): foreign naturalization letter or proof of another citizenship acquired before 1991.
- Resident (R) request letter explaining your means of support to live in the country.

How we work: from the call to the cédula, zero chaos
A process designed so you never chase a paper or wonder what's next. Technology + senior lawyer, start to finish.
1Strategy consultation ($80)
Camila diagnoses your case on a call. The same day you get the minutes and your proposal with a confirmed plan, credited on hire.
2Sign & pay online
Digital signature on your proposal, automatic legal invoice and card payment (even in installments, per your plan).
3Instant Sofi access
Payment activates your case and you enter the portal with your code: questionnaires, templates and your checklist from your phone.
4AI does the legwork: extracts, drafts and reviews
No endless forms: AI does the heavy lifting — extracting your data, generating your templates and killing typos — and your lawyer applies final judgment before filing.
5Filing + real follow-up
We file in SITAC, track daily, answer requirements and alert you to every deadline. All in one file, not scattered chats.
6With you until the cédula
The process doesn't end with an approved visa: we guide you through registration, the appointment and getting your cédula. The same lawyer who welcomed you walks with you to the end.
Your peace of mind, by system: Sofi 24/7 · AI validating before filing · templates & examples · deadline reminders · direct WhatsApp with your lawyer · online invoicing & payments · the same senior from start to finish.
One number per plan. Confirmed on your call.

Straight answers, before you ask
Do I lose my current citizenship?
No. This visa exists precisely for that: returning to reside in Colombia while keeping the citizenship you value.
Do I need family, work or investment here?
No: unlike nearly every other visa, this one requires no ties. Only your past renunciation and means to live here.
What about 1886 Constitution cases?
If you lost nationality under art. 9 (acquired another before 1991), we prove it with your naturalization or equivalent document. Winnable cases with the right historic file.
Can I work and bring family?
Yes to both: as a permanent resident you work freely and cover dependents (art. 3 Res. 5477).
How long and from where do I apply?
Usually 2 to 5 weeks once filed. From Colombia or your country of residence or nationality.
Do I need a lawyer if it's all online?
No platform requires counsel. But proving decades-old facts before a discretionary officer demands an impeccable historic file. To come home, it's worth shielding.
