Exactly how much must I invest?
Over 650 minimum wages in registered direct investment ($1,135,473,300 COP ≈ $349,380 USD at Oct 2026) or at least 350 minimum wages in solely-owned real estate ($611,408,700 COP ≈ $188,130 USD), always with Banco de la República registration.
Does my company investment count?
Not for this visa: equity investments go through the Business Owner visa (from 100 minimum wages, and it lets you work in it). The consultation confirms which one is yours before you move a peso.
Can I work on this visa?
The rule doesn't expressly ban it — in practice it usually allows any legal activity — but officer discretion means we can't guarantee it in writing on the visa. We assess your case.
Does it lead to residency?
Yes. It's an M visa: 5 continuous years as a holder let you apply for the Resident visa, as long as you maintain and report the investment.
How long and from where do I apply?
Usually 2 to 5 weeks once filed. From Colombia or your country of residence or nationality.
Do I need a lawyer if it's all online?
